I was going to just post an audio version of this, but seeing it being performed really shows how incredibly difficult it is. In short, it’s nuts. ”Disorder” is the perfect name.
If you’re interested in the theory side of things, for this etude (the first of ten), Ligeti writes the right hand line with an empty key signature and the left with 5 sharps. Throughout the 2 minutes, the right hand only plays white keys and the left only black keys. The two voices start in a unison rhythm but quickly displace, giving the feeling disorder and a constant path towards chaos. The two hands expand in register until at 1:14, the left hand plays the 2nd to lowest note possible and the right plays the 3rd highest. After that, the process begins again until both voices accent incredibly high then dissipate.
